The Voluntary Initiative (VI) exhibits at Cereals 2025 in Lincolnshire and for the first time at the Royal Highland Show (RHS) in Edinburgh
After a busy late May/early June attending joint meetings with AHDB at Monitor farms in Northern Ireland and in the Borders of Scotland to promote Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in both arable and grassland scenario’s, the VI stepped up a gear with “show season” upon us. From 11th - 12th June, the VI shared a marquee with BASIS,NRoSO and PIPAH at Cereals 2025 at Leadenham, Lincs. The stand was inundated with NRoSO and BASIS members eager to complete the Knowledge Trail Questionnaire.
Dr Neal Evans, Operations Director at the VI said “Cereals was a great success with lots of interesting discussion around best practice use of plant protection products and new innovations such as closed transfer systems and drift reduction nozzles”
The following week, from 19th - 22nd June, the VI spent time north of the border exhibiting at the Royal Highland Show for the first time. Sharing a stand with Farming and Water Scotland, hosted by SRUC, the show was very successful. Discussion with farmers focussed on water scarcity whilst the families with children enjoyed hearing about our BeeConnected initiative and the children looking forward to planting their “Bee Bombs” and watching the resultant wild flowers grow.
