BCPC meeting highlights IPM SFI Standard and new IPM Tool

Thursday 25th January, the BCPC Pest and Beneficials Expert Review discussed to what extent adoption of the Sustainable Farming Incentives scheme promotes the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

The meeting consisted of a series of presentations outlining the recently announced additional Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) Standards, focussing on the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) SFI Standard.  With input from a number of farmers, discussion covered profitability and how the use of IPM and IPM tools can help improve farm businesses.  Much of the conversation related to the development of an IPM Tool developed as part of a Defra-funded Test and Trial programme lead by the NFU and involving ADAS and SRUC. Recently relaunched, the IPM Tool offers farmers and their advisers a high level of IPM information for the control of a number of pests, weeds and diseases across a wide range of crops.

Further information on the IPM Tool can be found here.
